The Skavlrimen ( Norwegian for Sastrugi ) is a 5 km long and mostly snow-covered mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is dominated by Vyatskaya Peak in the northern part and lies 2.5 km east of Dekefjellet in the Weyprecht Mountains of Hoelfjella .
It was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping based on surveys and further aerial photographs was carried out during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
