Skeptic Eleptic was from St. Poelten native Austrian punk rock band .

Career

The band was founded in the winter of 1999 by bassist Mots T. Sux , drummer Thoms'n'Roll , guitarist Tom Mohawk and singer Sickboy Eleptic (Dorian Stone) . Before that, the band members gained experience in the German punk formation TVÖ. (Total confusion Austria / 1996–1999). All members taught themselves their instruments. In 2000 the band recorded their first untitled promo CD, with all of the songs on it being sung in English. The first appearances in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary followed thanks to good reviews in relevant fanzines and magazines. In 2002, the debut album Madmans Bride No. 1 released in self-distribution, in 2003 the album was released with a bonus track on vinyl via Wanda Records. The second album SICK SICK SICK was released on CD in spring 2005 on the Caustic Rock Records label and the LP on Wanda Records. In the summer of 2005, the album with bonus video was released in Japan via Revel Yell Records. In early 2007, the recordings for their third studio album began.

In March 2008 Skeptic Eleptic signed with Dambuster Records . The album Get Addicted was released on June 2, 2008.

Over the years, the band has already changed three guitarists, released a large number of records and samplers, and played over 300 concerts in several European countries. Three videos have already been shot in-house (2003 Rocky Horror Freakshow , 2005 Streetpussycat , 2007 Addicted ).

In June 2009 there was a break with founding member, songwriter and singer Dorian Stone, which also ushered in the end of the band. Bernd Fletscher, long-time friend of the band and singer at Scenario Fever , spontaneously jumped in for a few shows, but is not listed as a band member because he was the live representative for Dorian Stone and no new song was written. Bassist Mots-T-Sux and drummer Thoms'n'Roll have been playing together in the newly founded formation Demenzia Kolektiva since November 2009.

Skeptic Eleptic played their last concert in Austria on April 16, 2010 in the Fifty in Asperhofen. At the “Back To Future Festival” in Glaubitz (Germany) the band will say goodbye to the stages on July 17th, 2010.

music

Skeptic Eleptic simply call their music punk rock. While there were more influences from hardcore and street punk in the early stages, their music has now developed into a mixture of punk rock, garage rock, surf rock, psychedelic, trash, pop rock and rock 'n' roll. The band insists on not being pushed into any particular genre corner.

style

The fashionable and musical influence comes from 1970s bands such as the New York Dolls , The Stooges , Dead Boys , The Damned and Sex Pistols .

politics

Skeptic Eleptic were never a band that constantly drew attention to the misery and bad in this world in every song and on stage, but they were anything but an apolitical band. Again and again they played at rock against right concerts or at various benefit events for various organizations. For example, on the Austrian national holiday in 2006, in the middle of Vienna at Maria Theresia Platz, they played a concert at a rally against the purchase of the Eurofighter interceptors by the Austrian federal government. The DIY idea has always been a top priority for the band. Drummer Thoms'n'Roll founded the event association Rock'n'Roll Highschool together with bassist Mots-T-Sux in 2002 and have since provided a variety of musical events in Eastern Austria. Since 2004, Thoms'n'Roll has also been working for the Arena (Vienna) culture and event center, which is operated by the Forum Arena Wien association, which works autonomously and based on democracy.
