Skills en Masse was a German hip-hop duo consisting of the siblings Meli (Melanie Wharton, * 1980) and Marcy (Marcel Wharton, * 1978). The group existed from around 1996 to 2001 and released the single Wie wir and several collaborations .
history
The siblings were born in West Sussex, England. Her father is from the Caribbean and her mother is German. After their parents separated, the siblings came to Stuttgart in 1986 . Another brother named Donato Wharton, who was guitarist for the Freundeskreis group , made contact with the Stuttgart scene via a demo tape. In 1999 a record deal was signed with the Kopfnicker Records label and the single Wie wir hit the charts. There was previously a single with Stieber Twins ( Taler, Taler ) and then with Massive Töne ( 2 Mille ).
In 2001 Meli's solo debut appeared, which was titled as Skills en Masse , but had nothing in common with the original rap duo; in the end, Marcy rapped on two titles. Meli remained active as a solo artist and sang tracks with Afrob , Gentleman and with the groups Ischen Impossible , Sisters Keepers and Sisters .
