The Skuna River is a tributary of the Yalobusha River in the north and center of the US state Mississippi . The river is about 120 km long and belongs to the Mississippi catchment area .
The Skuna River rises about 6 km west of Pontotoc in Pontotoc County and flows through the counties Chickasaw and Calhoun in a south-westerly direction , where it flows past the city of Bruce . Most of the river's course is straightened and known as the Skuna River Canal . The Skuna River flows 9.7 km east of the city of Grenada into the Yalobusha River, which is dammed up to Grenada Lake .
