Skutvik
Coordinates: 68 ° 1 ′ N , 15 ° 20 ′ E
Skutvik is a place in the northern Norwegian municipality of Hamarøy with 212 inhabitants (2011).
The place is located in the extreme southwest of the Hamarøya peninsula, 90 kilometers north of Bodø and 40 km south of Svolvær , with the Økssundet in the west and south. In the north the landscape consists of mountains, hilly cliffs and lower peaks. In the east there are two nature reserves in a low wetland area .
Skutvik has, among other things, a grocery store with a post office, an electronics store, a cafeteria, a school, a kindergarten and a camping site. The largest employer is the salmon processing company Mainstream Norway.

- The road Fylkesvei 81 leads from the E6 in Ulvsvåg to Skutvik (35.9 km).
- There is a daily car ferry across the Vestfjord to Svolvær and Skrova, providing a connection to the E10 through Lofoten (2 hours).
- There is a speedboat line from Svolvær to Bodø .
Culture and sights
- Hamarøyskaftet (Hamarøy Point ), seven to eight kilometers from Skutvik, can be seen from Fylkesvei.
- The Nesstraumen body of water is about five kilometers east of Skutvik and outside of Ness. It has one of the most powerful currents in Northern Europe with speeds of up to 22 knots .
- Sculpture landscapes Nordland with the sculpture Stella Maris ("Sea Stars") by Steinar Christensen from 1994.
- In Sørdal, an abandoned village north of Skutvik, some filming took place for films and TV series, some of which are based on the novel " Landstreicher " (1989) by Knut Hamsun.
- A total of 29 burial mounds are recorded near Ness and on the island of Hundsøya. Most of them date from the Neolithic Age .
