Slag om Norg
The Slag om Norg (also: KOGA Slag om Norg , in German: Battle for Norg ) is a Dutch road bike race . This race takes place in the province of Drenthe , more precisely in the town of Norg . Part of the race's distance is covered on unpaved roads, such as the Italian Strade Bianche cycling race in Tuscany .
The race was held for the first time in 2012. However, from 2012 to 2015 the race was a race without UCI status , but only part of the national calendar in the Netherlands . In 2016 it became part of the UCI Europe Tour and was classified there in category 1.2 . In 2017 it was upgraded to category 1.1 .
The list of winners has so far been shaped by the victories of local cyclists. In 2017 Gianni Vermeersch from Belgium was the first foreign cyclist to win the race.
