A slip cart is a special type of cart used to get boats out of the water or to launch them (that is, to slip them ). Slip trolleys for dinghies are usually specially designed for the boat class in order to avoid damage to the hull. Depending on the design, boats can also be slipped directly from the boat trailer, especially if it is specially designed to be slip-able.

Launching trolleys are also part of slipways in shipyards . They run on rails and are moved with the help of winches . In order to pull a ship out of the water, the slip trolleys are lowered into the water on the sloping runway until the ship can be safely maneuvered over it. After the ship is attached to the launching trolley, it is pulled ashore. A slip trolley is usually sufficient for smaller ships and boats.

Catamaran launch trolleys

In the case of sport catamarans , the slip trolley consists of an axle with two shells for the hull of the boat and wide tires at the ends to prevent it from sinking into the sand. The shells are pushed under the hulls of the catamaran, roughly at the height of the center of gravity. In this way, the catamaran can then be lifted slightly and pushed into the water without any problems, since the majority of its weight is now on the launching trolley. In this way, a wide variety of areas and height differences can be mastered.

The shape of the catamaran hulls is decisive for which shells have to be used to ensure gentle transport. Different manufacturers use different hull shapes, which require correspondingly shaped shape guide shells.

Slip wagons for recreational shipping are tax-exempt in Germany (green license plate).
