Slovak pouter

Black Slovak Pouter

The Slovak pouter is a relatively short, strong, white-headed pouter with an erect posture and a pear-shaped blower. The indigenous pike pigeon comes from the districts of Myjava , Nové Mesto nad Váhom and Piestany in western Slovakia and can be traced back to the original type of the Central European pomeranian . He belongs to the group of those vital pouters who were once disparagingly referred to as peasant pouters. With its high fertility, good rearing capacity of caring parents and his ability to fly, he is still considered a good economic dove .

distribution

The Slovak pouter is bred almost in the entire area of western Slovakia , it is also less common in central and eastern Slovakia and in the Czech Republic. The Slovak Kröpfer came to the GDR in the 1960s, but is rarely found in Germany and Austria.

The Polish white-headed pouter ( Polish : Bialoglowska ) largely corresponds to the Slovakian pouter , but is only bred in Poland.

The pedigree pigeon was included with the number 322 in the EE list of pedigree pigeons of the European Breeding Association. The standard is determined by the Slovak association.

The Slovaks stand upright and appear compact due to the short rear section. The head is elongated and round with a domed, slightly rising forehead. The dark eyes are surrounded by a narrow reddish eye rim. The beak is set on medium-long, strong and broad, the nipples are only slightly developed and powdered white. The neck is of medium length with pear-shaped, medium-sized blow molding without a waist. The chest and shoulders are broad and well developed. The back slopes slightly backwards at an angle of 45 °. The wings of the crook lie close to the body and rest on the tail, but do not reach the end of the tail. The tail itself is of medium length, closed and forms a line with the back. The legs are of medium length, strong and not feathered.

Slovaks are bred in a kind of monk drawing: if the basic plumage is colored, the head and wings are white. On the head, the white plumage should run to about five millimeters below the eyes and ten millimeters below the beak. In addition, four to eight of the outer hand wings are white. The following colors are recognized in the European standard:
