The Snake Indian River is an approximately 110 km long left tributary of the Athabasca River in the Canadian province of Alberta .
River course
The river has its source in the Canadian Rocky Mountains near the Snake Indian Pass at an altitude of about 2240 m . For the first 50 km it flows mainly in an easterly direction through the mountains. The Snake Indian River then turns south-southeast. Finally, the Snake Indian River flows into the Athabasca River 35 km north of Jasper at an altitude of about 1039 m . The Snake Indian River drains an area of about 1,600 km². The entire course of the river and the entire catchment area lie in the north of Jasper National Park .
Hydrology
At the level 7 km above the mouth, the discharge between May and October is 45 m³ / s on average. June has the highest mean monthly discharge with 85.3 m³ / s.
