The Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) in Geneva is the largest Swiss yacht club .

The SNG was founded in 1872 by wealthy Geneva citizens and foreign aristocrats who spent the summer on Lake Geneva . Today it has more than 3000 members. The club supports the various water sports and promotes the training of athletes. He also offers courses in sailing , rowing and water skiing . The sports activities are divided into four sections: rowing, sailing with a keelboat , sailing with a dinghy or multihull boat , water motor sports and water skiing.

Every year the SNG organizes several regattas, including the Bol d'Or and the regatta around Lake Geneva (Tour du Léman à l'aviron), a 160 km non-stop circumnavigation of Lake Geneva in a four- person rowing boat . The members of the yacht club have repeatedly won first places in European and international competitions. The best-known success was the 2003 and 2007 victory of Ernesto Bertarelli 's Alinghi team in the America's Cup . From 2003 to 2010 the SNG was the “Defending Yacht Club” of the America's Cup.

The club house and the port of the SNG are on the border of the municipalities of Geneva and Cologny on the south bank of Lake Geneva . The port, called "Port Noir" or "Port de la Nautique", has 625 boat berths.
