Socrates Buenaventura Villegas (born September 28, 1960 in Manila ) is Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan .

Life

The Archbishop of Manila , Jaime Lachica Cardinal Sin , ordained him a priest on October 5, 1985 . Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Nona and auxiliary bishop in Manila on July 25, 2001 .

The Archbishop of Manila, Jaime Lachica Cardinal Sin, gave him episcopal consecration on August 31 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Crisostomo A. Yalung , Bishop of Antipolo , and Jesse Eugenio Mercado , Auxiliary Bishop in Manila .

He was appointed Bishop of Balanga on May 3, 2004 and was introduced to the office on July 3 of the same year. He was named Archbishop of Lingayen - Dagupan on September 8, 2009 and was introduced to the office on November 4 of the same year.

Since 2013 he has been chairman of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
