Sol Halperin
Sol Halperin (born February 16, 1902 in Newark , New Jersey , † May 4, 1977 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American cameraman and special effects technician.
Life
Sol Halperin, the uncle of Richard H. Kline , who later also worked as a cameraman, initially worked as a cameraman on five films between 1928 and 1930 and then moved to the special effects department.
Halperin, who was employed at 20th Century Fox , and five other cameramen played a key role in the development of the CinemaScope technology.
Halperin was twice President of the American Society of Cinematographers between 1966 and 1969 and 1970 to 1973 .
