biography

The Solarstone music project was founded in 1997 in Birmingham by Richard Mowatt, Andy Bury and Sam Tierney. The trio had been known under the pseudonym The Space Kittens since 1994 . Sam Tierney left the group in 1997 and due to different development directions Andy Bury also left the music project in 2006.

Solarstone hit the UK singles chart with three singles . The most successful was the single "Seven Cities", which reached number 39 in 1999. The song was one of the first representatives of the Balearic Trance and was re-released 3 times. The song was sold over 500,000 times.

In 2003 and 2004 Solarstone had a cooperation with Scott Bond and together released the three singles "3rd Earth", "Naked Angel" and "Red Line Highway". The debut album AnthologyOne was released in 2006. In 2008 the second studio album Rain Stars Eternal was released .

Solarstone has also produced some successful remixes by Paul Oakenfold , Matt Darey and Ferry Corsten , among others .

Podcast

Together with the trance DJ Robbie Nelson , Richard Mowatt has been producing the Solaris International Radio Show since 2004, which is broadcast on various web radios. In the first few years it appeared irregularly and was a mixture of interviews and new releases, since December 2006 (episode 33) it has been published as a weekly, two-hour podcast . It is alternately moderated by Nelson and Mowatt and contains new tracks and remixes , a half-hour guest DJ mix and, for over 3 years, at least one classic trance track from the late 1990s to 2000s. The choice of music is increasingly influenced by suggestions from members of the social network Solarswarm , which was founded by Mowatt. On March 14, 2011, the 250th episode was published.
