The Solinger SC 95/98 (officially: Solinger Sport-Club 95/98 eV ) is a sports club from Solingen . The first handball team took part in the DHB Cup once.
history
The club was created on April 24, 1970 through the merger of BSV Solingen 98 with FC Solingen 95 . The handball players of BSV 98 became German champions in field handball in 1965 . The footballers of BSV 98 took part twice in the West German championship . The FC 95 footballers once again took part in the West German Championship.
Handball
The handball players of the Solinger SC rose in 1971 from the then second-class Regionalliga West . In the 1976/77 season, Solingen qualified for the DHB Cup. After a first round win over ATSV habenhausen , the team failed in round two at Hamburger SV . In 1998 the handball department in the Sportring Solingen-Höhscheid-Widdert went on, which in 1998 formed the SG Solingen with PSV Jahn Solingen . This became the Bergische HC in 2006 .
Soccer
In the first season as Solinger SC, the team finished tied with local rivals TSV Aufderhöhe in the district class . The playoff for promotion to the national league was lost 0: 1 in front of 1,200 spectators. In 1980, the team was relegated to the B district league and two years later the team had to go down to the B district league. In 1984 he was promoted to the district league A, which was followed by direct relegation. 1989 succeeded the renewed promotion to the district league A before the team returned in 1996 to the district league. Four years later, the descent followed, which was followed by the direct resurgence. In 2009 it went back down to the district league A. In 2012 the football department merged with that of the Sport-Ring Solingen Höhscheidt / Widdert to form the Sport-Ring Solingen 1880/95 .
