Solomon Liebgold (born February 4, 1877 in Cracow also Zalman or Salomon ; † 1942 or 1943 in the Treblinka extermination camp ) was a Polish actor .

Life

Solomon Liebgold was born in Cracow in 1877 as one of thirteen children of the businessman Leib Liebgold and his wife Temerel Markowitz . He played on numerous Yiddish stages , and from 1900 onwards increasingly comic roles. He was a member of the Yiddish Actors' Union in Warsaw. On May 18, 1908, he married the actress Basia Heu in Przemyśl . The two had three children, the actors Jan Liebgold ( Yonek ) and Leon Liebgold and their daughter Toni ( Tanke ). After the occupation of Poland by the German Wehrmacht in 1939, he went to Tarnów with his wife and children Jan and Toni , where they continued to play theater under the occupation until they were sick and emaciated in 1942 to the Treblinka extermination camp , where he and his His wife and daughter were probably murdered that same year.
