Solonyzja ( Ukrainian Солониця ; Russian Солоница Soloniza ) is a village in the Ukrainian Poltava Oblast with 1000 inhabitants (2001).
Solonyzja is located in Lubny district on the left bank of the Sula and on the M 03 highway . The village has a train station on the Kiev – Poltava line .
Solonyzja belongs administratively to the district administration of the 4 km north lying village Sassullja and is located 9 km southeast of the Rajon center Lubny and about 140 km northwest of the Oblast center Poltava .
history
At Solonyzja the decisive battle of the Nalywajko uprising between Cossacks and Poles took place in 1596 with the Battle of Solonyzja , during which the hetman Hryhorij Loboda was murdered.
Sons and daughters
The Ukrainian writer and translator Vasyl Barka (1908–2003) and the Ukrainian bandura player and folk musician Yevhen Adamzewytsch (1904–1972) were born in the village .
