In 2018 , Chantra made his motorcycle world championship debut at the Thailand Grand Prix at the age of 19 . He started on a Honda with a wildcard for AP Honda Racing Thailand . Although he only started the race from 24th place, he finished the race in ninth place and immediately picked up seven championship points. He finished the season as 33rd.

IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia signed Chantra as a regular driver in the Moto2 class for the 2019 season . His team-mate is Indonesian Dimas Ekky Pratama . In the second race, Chantra scored his first point in the middle class in tenth place.
