Plant with thread-like leaf lobes

Sonchus tenerrimus is an annual, biennial or perennial stem thermophyte or hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 20 to 100 centimeters. The stem of the stem leaves is usually clearly recognizable and wingless. At its base it expands into a sheath that encompasses the stem. The mostly full-margined side lobes are narrowly elongated or almost thread-shaped and, in contrast to the vegetable goose thistle, drawn together at the base. The fruits are finely wrinkled.

The flowering period extends from February to May, rarely until January.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.

Occurrence

Sonchus tenerrimus is originally found in the Mediterranean region , also in West Asia, the Canary Islands, Eritrea, Mauritania and South Africa. In Switzerland, the Azores, Madeira, California, Baja California, Argentina, Chile and Australia it is a neophyte.
