Sonia Schadwinkel

Sonia Schadwinkel (* 1965 ) is a German biologist and scientific illustrator . She lives and works in Bremen .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Bremen in 1984, Sonia Schadwinkel studied biology at the University of Bremen and at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven until 1990 . Her studies focused on marine and freshwater biology, zoology , ecology and systematics .

In 1990 she took part in the US Antarctic expedition and in 1993 in the Spanish Antarctic expedition with the "Hesperides".

From 1993 to 1995 she studied again - Art at the University of Mainz with Cornelia Hesse-Honegger, specializing in "Scientific Illustrator".

Since 1995 Sonia Schadwinkel has been working as a freelance scientific draftsman and illustrator. As a lecturer for painting and drawing technology, she works at various institutions and privately.
