Sonja Norwood (* 1951 , bourgeois Sonja Bates-Norwood ) is an American film producer and manager. Among other things, she worked as an executive producer for the sitcom Moesha .

Norwood is a mother of two and the wife of gospel artist Willie Norwood . They lived together for a while in Los Angeles in the 1970s , where her husband was pursuing a career as a musician, but in the late 1970s they moved to McComb , Mississippi , where they gave birth to two children. In order to give her children a career in show business , the manager moved back to Hollywood , Los Angeles four years after the birth of her first child, Brandy . There both, including their son Ray J , managed to gain a foothold in the entertainment industry . The daughter Brandy got the lead role in the TV series Moesha , which Norwood produced from 1996 to 2001. This was followed by a further production of the television film Double Platinum - Doppelplatin! with Diana Ross . In 2002 she starred alongside her daughter Brandy and producer Robert “Big Bert” Smith in the reality TV series Brandy: Special Delivery , a spin-off from The Osbournes . In the same year, an appearance on talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey follows . Most recently she appeared in her son's show For the Love of Ray J , in which she also acts as an executive producer . In the documentary series Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business , her life, alongside that of her husband and children, was documented in eleven episodes. Norwood also made headlines in 2008 for filing a lawsuit accusing Kim Kardashian , ex-girlfriend of her son Ray J, of illegally using around $ 120,000. Norwood gave Kim an American Express card, which she unauthorizedly shared with her siblings, and together they spent thousands of dollars between 2006 and 2007.
