The show focuses on the everyday life of the Osbournes, but also Ozzy's alcohol problems and Sharon's cancer. The soap received an Emmy Award.

Ozzy helped this show make a comeback . His song "Dreamer", released in 2002, made it into the charts. After the success of the show, Kelly made a record and Jack got his own show. Only Ozzy and Sharon's eldest daughter Aimee refused to take part in the series and is rarely seen on it. During filming, both Kelly and Jack had problems with alcohol and other drugs, and both had to go through rehab.
