Sony Vaio UX Micro PC
The Sony Vaio UX Micro PC is an Ultra-Mobile Portable Computer ( UMPC ). The production of the VGN-UX series was stopped by Sony in mid-2008 without a direct successor. Although a niche product, the VGN UX was Hollywood - Requisite very popular; he usually represents a futuristic high-tech gadget that is supposed to underline the technical skill of certain characters.
Specifications
Various models were produced in the UX series, but they had common features:
- 4.5 inch XBrite TFT-LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels.
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 graphics card (integrated in the chipset) (128 MB (128 MB ) shared RAM) - some also have 256 MB
- Memory Stick Duo slot
- Built-in W-LAN 802.11b / g and Bluetooth
- Fingerprint scanner
- One camera each on the front and back
Use as a Hollywood prop
- Terminator Salvation : John Connor hacks into Skynet's systems with a Vaio UX
- Quantum of consolation : Bill Tanner uses a Sony VAIO UX. Sony brought out a "James Bond 007 UX Spy Gear bundle" to match the film, which includes a UX280P
- The department store cop : The antagonist Veck uses a Sony VAIO UX
- The legacy of the Knights Templar : Riley Poole uses the VAIO UX to record the video from the surveillance camera of the American Declaration of Independence
- The Pink Panther 2 : Kenji uses a Sony VAIO UX for a crime scene investigation
- 24 : In an episode of the television series is a UX a suitcase bomb primed
- Stargate Atlantis : Rodney McKay uses a VGN UX in various episodes of the series
- A UX is used in the music videos "Sweetest Girl" by Wyclef Jean and "Same Girl" by R. Kelly
- In episode 15 of the 5th season of Monk (TV series) , one of the FBI agents uses a Vaio UX to control traffic lights.
- In episode 18 of Season 4 of Prison Break , Alexander Mahone uses a Vaio UX for wireless video transmission.

American models use 400 MHz of RAM while all others use 533 MHz of RAM.
Modifications
Despite the Intel Core Solo U1x00 CPU, the Sony Vaio UX does not run completely smoothly with Windows Vista. The firmly soldered CPU can be exchanged for an Intel Core 2 Duo U7700 CPU by specialized workshops. The twice as high thermal design performance is offset by the better power management of the U7700.
