Mario de Pimentel Brandão

Mário de Pimentel Brandão (* 1889 in Rio de Janeiro , † 1956 ibid) was a Brazilian diplomat and politician.

Pimentel Brandão was Minister for Foreign Relations in the government of Getúlio Vargas from November 1, 1936 to March 15, 1938 . On May 9, 1940, in the case of Gelb , Mário de Pimentel Brandão was envoy extraordinary and ministerial plénipotentiaire in Brussels . Brussels was under fire and the Belgian government and diplomatic corps, including Brandão, fled. Maurício Nabuco de Araújo , Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, circularly reprimanded Brandão for leaving his post without government permission.

As a result, he was employed again as an ambassador . At the end of 1952 he was Secretary General of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and served two further brief periods as Executive Foreign Minister.
