Sophie McShera (born 1985 in Bradford , West Yorkshire ) is a British actress .
Life
McShera grew up in an Irish family with her brother Liam in Bradford. At the age of 12 she took her first acting lessons. Shortly thereafter, she got her first role in the musical The Goodbye Girl , which was performed on a tour of the UK in 1997 and 1998.
She later studied at Brunel University and got her first roles in series such as Emmerdale , Doctors and Survivors . In 2009 she got the role of Ros McCain in the television series Waterloo Road , which she took on in 19 episodes. From 2010 to 2015 she played the kitchen maid Daisy in the series Downton Abbey .
She also appears regularly at the theater, including in productions of Cinderella (2009/2010) and Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem .
