Jez Butterworth
Jeremy "Jez" Butterworth (* 1969 in London , England ) is a British playwright , film director , screenwriter and actor .
Life
Jeremy Butterworth attended Verulam School in St Albans and studied at St John's College , Cambridge . His brother Steve Butterworth is a film producer and his brother Tom Butterworth is also a writer. He made his debut as a screenwriter with the David Giles- directed drama Night of the Golden Brain in 1993 and as a playwright with his play I Believe In Love in 1992. In 1995 his greatest success to date was premiered at the Royal Court Theater in London with the play Mojo . The critical success meant that he was not only awarded several prizes, but also made his debut in 1997 as a film director for his literary adaptation. His best-known film, however, was the crime comedy Birthday Girl - Bride to Order with Nicole Kidman , Vincent Cassel and Mathieu Kassovitz in the lead roles, which he wrote and directed and which was produced by his brother Steve Butterworth.
