Sophie Wilhelmine of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (born August 9, 1693 in Saalfeld , † December 4, 1727 in Rudolstadt ) was a princess of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld and, by marriage, Princess of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Life

Sophie Wilhelmine was the eldest daughter of Duke Johann Ernst von Sachsen-Saalfeld (1658–1729) from his second marriage to Charlotte Johanna (1664–1699), daughter of Count Josias von Waldeck-Wildungen .

She married Prince Friedrich Anton von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt (1692–1744) in Saalfeld on February 8, 1720 . The connection between the two houses was deepened three years later through the marriage of Sophie Wilhelmine's brother Franz Josias to Friedrich Anton's sister Anna Sophia. The connection with the pious Rudolstadt court also meant promoting Pietism in the Principality of Saalfeld, which Sophie Wilhelmine's half-brother Christian Ernst supported there.

progeny

From their marriage, Sophie Wilhelmine had the following children:

⚭ 1744 Princess Bernhardine of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (1724–1757)
  • Sophie Wilhelmine (* / † 1723)
  • Sophie Albertine (1724–1799)
