Sophie von Brandenburg-Ansbach (born March 23, 1535 in Ansbach , † February 22, 1587 in Liegnitz ) was a princess of Brandenburg-Ansbach and became Duchess of Liegnitz by marriage .

Life

Sophie was a daughter of Margrave Georg von Brandenburg-Ansbach (1484–1543) from his third marriage to Aemilia (1516–1591), daughter of Duke Heinrich of Saxony .

She married Duke Heinrich XI on November 11, 1560 in Liegnitz . von Liegnitz (1539–1588). The connection served Sophie's father to consolidate his recognition as Silesian Duke. The marriage turned out to be very unhappy, which was also due to Sophie's considerable irritability.

Sophie should not be confused with her aunt of the same name (1485–1537), who was also Duchess of Liegnitz.
