The Sopochnaja ( Russian Сопочная ) is an approximately 37 km long, northern or right-hand tributary of the Yenisei and at the same time its last tributary before confluence with the Yenisei gulf , in northern Siberia , in the northwest of the Krasnoyarsk region and thus in northern Russia ( Asia ).

course

The Sopotschnaja rises in a hilly landscape in the western part of the North Siberian lowlands and flows in a predominantly southern direction through unpopulated area to the east of Cape Sopotschnaja Karga into the Yenisei coming from the southeast, shortly before its transition into the Yenisei gulf ( Kara Sea ), or into the bay of Sopochnaya Karga flows into it.

Flora, fauna, climate, ice drift

The Sopochnaja flows through landscapes of frost rubble deserts and tundra with mosses and lichens . The winters are long and extremely cold, the summers short and cold. The river is covered by ice from around October to early May . When the permafrost thaws in summer and the ice and snow melt, floods often arise , which the river drives into its cone-shaped mouth.
