Sorodzhon Yusufova

Sorodschon Michailovna Jussufowa ( Russian Сараджан Михайловна Юсупова , Tajik Сороҷон Михайловна Юсуфова; born May 5 . Jul / 18th May  1910 greg. In Bukhara ; † 15. May 1966 in Dushanbe ) was a Soviet geochemist and high school teacher .

Life

Jussufowa, daughter of Bukharan Jews , studied at the Chemistry - Faculty of the Central Asian State University (SAGU) in Samarkand with completion in 1935. She then worked in Moscow as an aspirant in Dokuchaev -Institute of Soil Science of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN SSSR) .

In 1940 Yusufova became a research assistant at the Geology Institute of the Uzbek branch of the AN-SSSR in Tashkent . There she organized and then headed the X-ray laboratory for mineralogy . She studied the colloid chemical properties of Uzbek clays . During the German-Soviet war she returned to Moscow in 1943 and worked again at the Institute for Soil Science.

In 1946 Yusufova became an employee of the Geology Institute of the Tajik Socialist Soviet Republic (SSR) in Stalinabad (from 1961 Dushanbe) and headed the sector for coal and petroleum geology and from 1949 the department for general geology (until 1952). In 1948 she successfully defended her mineralogical-geochemical dissertation for a doctorate in geological-mineralogical sciences. Her main research interests were the geochemistry of the Coelestins , the Tajik mineral springs and the Central Asian loess soils .

From 1948 Yusufova headed the chair for mineralogy and petrography at the Tajik University in Stalinabad and Dushanbe. In 1950 she was appointed professor . In 1951 she was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the Tajik SSR. In 1964 her textbook on geology with elements of mineralogy and petrography was published in Tajik language . She was a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR.

The mining and geology technical center in Dushanbe bears Yusufova's name.
