Sosiw ( Ukrainian Зозів ; Russian Зозов Sosow ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Vinnytsia with about 1,800 inhabitants (2004).
The village, founded in 1552, is the administrative center of the district council of the same name , which also includes the village of Olexanderiwka ( Олександрівка ) with about 20 inhabitants. Sosiw is located in the Lypovets district near the Sob ( Соб ) River , a 125 km long left tributary of the Southern Bug 13 km north of the Lypowets district center and 55 km east of the Vinnytsia oblast center .
Personalities
- Oleksandr Omelchenko , Ukrainian politician and mayor of Kiev from 1999 to 2006, was born in the village in 1938.
