The name of the label refers to a song by the Kassel neo-sixties band Dog Food 5 . Sounds of Subterrania has been distributed in Germany by Cargo Records since 2001 . In 2008 the company moved to Hamburg. In March 2009 the label moved into its new premises in Hamburg's Hafenklang .

Alignment

Sounds of Subterrania has its roots in the do-it-yourself punk movement and, according to its own statement, tries to “break down genre boundaries”. Whether garage, punk, disco or noise - the main focus is on the independence of the respective artist from the existing mainstream.

Publications

The majority of the Sounds of Subterrania releases appear on vinyl. Special attention is paid to the artwork. The label always works with renowned international artists. One focus of the label is the release of special editions on vinyl. Sounds of Subterrania was the first label worldwide to release a cover with a lenticular front. Sounds of Subterrania records do not have a uniform logo . Each band or each sound carrier receives a logo specially tailored to the sound.
