The South Palmer River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland .

It runs in the Far North Queensland region .

River course

The river rises two kilometers west of the settlement Reedy St. George 3rd Crossing , about 120 kilometers northwest of Cairns directly on the Mulligan Highway , in the Atherton Tablelands , which are part of the Great Dividing Range . From there it flows strongly meandering to the north-northwest and flows southeast of the Palmer Goldfield Resources Reserve into the Palmer River .
