The Soyus-18 Rock ( Russian Скала Союз-18 Skala Soyuz 18 , German 'Soyuz-18-Felsen' ) is a 1230 m high and distinctive nunatak in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Cook Mountains, it rises 3 miles west of Cheney Bluff .
Soviet scientists named it after the Soyuz 18 spacecraft launched on May 24, 1975 . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated the Russian designation into English in 2000.
