Sozopoli ( Greek Σωζόπολη [ sɔˈzɔpɔli ] ( f. Sg. )) Is a village on the Greek peninsula of Chalkidiki . It is located between Nea Kallikratia and Nea Plagia , near the Kassandra peninsula and the Potidea Canal .
In administrative terms, Sozopoli has been part of the locality Nea Silata in the municipality of Kallikratia of the municipality of Nea Propondida since the administrative reform in 2010 .
In the vicinity of Sozopoli there are the Byzantine settlements of Veria and Tumba, which was the seat of the Bishop of Kassandra in the Middle Ages. Until 1948 the place was called Serviko Metochio. As early as the 1920s, resettlers from today's Bulgarian Sozopol (Gr. Sozopoli) settled here.
