The Later Jin Dynasty or Later Jurchen Dynasty ( Chinese  後 金  /  后 金 , Pinyin Hòu Jīn , 1616–1636) or Aisin Dynasty was a rule of the Jurchen founded in the late period of the Chinese Ming Dynasty in northeast China . Known as the Later Jin Dynasty, the dynasty differs from the Jin Dynasty of the 12th and 13th centuries.

Nurhaci (1559-1626), the leader of a subgroup of the Jianzhou Jurchen , united the Jurchen tribes and in 1616 became Khan . The rule was named Jin (or aisin gurun ). He founded the capital Hetu-ala (in today's Xinbin Autonomous County of the Manchu). The capital was later moved to Liaoyang and Shenyang .

In the 10th Taizong year (1636) of the Later Jin, Huang Taiji (also: Abahai, 1592–1643) ascended the Chinese imperial throne and the rule was called Qing from then on .
