Dishwasher deodorant
Dishwasher deodorants are liquids filled in sachets or fragrances and / or neutralizers pressed into plastic for use in dishwashers .
Purpose and nature
The deodorant , invented around 1990, serves two purposes. On the one hand, the fragrance compositions of the manufacturers ensure a pleasant air atmosphere, on the other hand, modern dishwasher deodorants have neutralizing substances that bind the unpleasant smells between the wash cycles. The sulfur and sulfide-containing smells mostly arise from leftover food in the dishwasher.
The deodorants themselves are liquids filled into sealed bags (French: sachet). The edge-sealed pouches consist of a deep-drawing film and a barrier protective film, such as is also used for sausage packaging. Both the neutralizing agent and the fragrance agent , e.g. B. lemon scent, green tea-lime or orange freshness u. v. a. m. are firmly closed in the sachet.
Development phases
The dishwasher deodorant, in its current form as a perfume composition in a deep-drawn form and sealed with a membrane, has existed since around 1990. Before that, dishwasher deodorants were mainly plastic discs soaked with perfume . These are still available in Asia today and some are still marketed in Europe. The SWIF group of companies developed the sachet technology and brought it to the European market.
Initially, the deodorant was offered in opaque aluminum packaging, as the sachet had to be protected from premature diffusion of its ingredients. The further development led to today's product, in which a water-soluble diffusion barrier protects the contents during storage. This is rinsed off by contact with water in the dishwasher and the product is automatically activated.
Today's dishwasher deodorant
The typical dishwasher endos exist in two different generations. The older version with an aluminum membrane film on the back, which has to be removed by hand, and the current generation with automatic activation of the deodorant when used for the first time. There are also different ways of attaching the dish deodorants. On the one hand there is the variant hung on the hook, on the other hand the refill variant packed in a plastic basket. The essential criteria for the quality of dishwasher endo are the ingredients. The manufacturer's AISE conformity is crucial here.
