The Sportvereinigung Ottenau eV is a German sports club based in the Ottenau district of the Baden-Württemberg city of Gaggenau in the Karlsruhe district .
history
Soccer
First years in the highest amateur leagues
By order of the French occupation administration, the "Turnerbund Ottenau" founded in 1886 and the "Football Club Ottenau" founded in 1922 were merged into the new sports association in 1946 . The football department then played in the 1946/47 season in the then second- class upper class South Baden and took fourth place in the West season with 19:13 points, which should be enough for relegation. For the next season , the division was then called the national league and was single-track, here the team then finished sixth with 26:18 points. From the 1950/51 season , the league was then renamed third class and in the 1st Amateur League South Baden . After this season, however, the team had to relegate to the 2nd amateur league with 10:50 points over 15th place .
Current time
In the 2003/04 season, the team played in the Baden-Baden regional league , where they finished eighth with 38 points. After the 2008/09 season, the team landed in second place with 59 points, which should be enough for promotion in the end. The team had to leave the Landesliga Südbaden as the last with only 14 points after just one season. After the 2015/16 season, the team finished second in the district league and qualified for the promotion round to the regional league. After a 2-0 home win and a 0-0 away win at FV Rammersweier , the team also made it up. This time the team was able to hold its own in the regional league and finished ninth with 42 points at the end of the season. In the following season, however, only twelfth place was just enough to keep the league and after the 2018/19 season the team had to relegate again with 24 points as bottom of the table. Thus, the club and its first team have been playing in the district league again since the 2019/20 season.
Table tennis
The table tennis department was founded in 1957. In the year he was promoted from the Association League to the Baden League and from there a year later to the Oberliga. Another year later, the participation in the promotion round to the regional league succeeded , but the promotion to this was then missed. It was not until 2009 that the team was finally able to move up to the regional league. In this, the team could not last long, but then rose again as champions of the league in 2012. In 2013 they even managed to get promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. The club's first team now plays in the Baden League.
