Álvaro Robles (born April 29, 1991 in Huelva ) is a Spanish table tennis player . He won silver with Ovidiu Ionescu in men's doubles at the 2019 World Table Tennis Championships in Budapest . He is right-handed and uses the European shakehand racket pose.

Career

Robles started playing table tennis at the age of 9. First he played for the Spanish club AD Hispanidad . In 2015 he was seen internationally for the first time, so he took part in the Zagreb Open , where he had to bow to Tan Ruiwu in the semifinals .

He was also seen in the German table tennis Bundesliga , playing for the ASV Grünwettersbach club until the 2016/17 season . In 2016 he was nominated for the European Championship , the final of the ITTF Challenge Series in the same year he was able to win against Can Akku . At the Qatar Open 2017 he met Fan Zhendong in the round of 16 , which he lost 4-0. In the same year he moved to TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt .

He also represented his country at the World Championships in Düsseldorf , where he defeated the duo Omar Assar and Dina Meshref in mixed with Galia Dvorak . The Qatar Open 2018 was not very successful for Robles, as he met top players in qualifying, including Wang Chuqin . In 2019 he was seen much more often on the international stage, including at the European Championships , a little unfortunate he was eliminated against Simon Gauzy . He also took part in the Korea Open , as well as in the Hainmaster Grand Prix , where the Spaniard Joo Se-hyuk beat.

In 2019 he became Spanish champion.
