The Sparkasse Vorpommern is a savings bank active in the area of Vorpommern and based in Greifswald . It is the second largest savings bank in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
history
In 1992 the Sparkasse was formed through the merger of the Sparkasse Greifswald with the Kreissparkasse Grimmen ( Grimmen district ). At the beginning of 1999 the Sparkasse Vorpommern merged with the Kreissparkassen Anklam ( district Anklam ), Ribnitz-Damgarten ( district Ribnitz-Damgarten ) and Wolgast ( district Wolgast ). On January 1, 2005, the Sparkasse Hansestadt Stralsund was added. The predecessor institutes each came into being in 1952 as part of the reorganization of the savings banks in the GDR . With the approval of the district council of the district of Vorpommern-Rügen on June 16, 2013, the Sparkasse Rügen was retroactively included in the institute as of January 1, 2013.

In the 2019 financial year, Sparkasse Vorpommern reported total assets of EUR 4.334 billion and customer deposits of EUR 3.761 billion. According to the 2019 Sparkasse Ranking List, it ranks 87th in terms of total assets. It has 80 branches / self-service locations and employs 640 people.

The carrier is the Zweckverband for the Sparkasse Vorpommern. The administrative association includes the district of Vorpommern-Rügen (47.6%), the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald (26.2%), the Hanseatic city of Greifswald (17.5%) and the Hanseatic city of Stralsund (8.7%).
