Spencer Gray Dinwiddie (born April 6, 1993 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American basketball player who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA .
Career
Spencer Dinwiddie first played for the Buffaloes of the University of Colorado Boulder for three years before signing up for the 2014 NBA Draft . On draft day, he was selected 38th by the Detroit Pistons . On July 21, 2014, he signed a three-year contract with the Pistons. Dinwiddie made his NBA debut on October 29, 2014 in the 89:79 loss to the Denver Nuggets , when he was able to book an assist in seven minutes of play. On February 20, 2015, he showed his best performance of the 2014/15 season in the game against the Chicago Bulls , when he scored 12 points and 9 assists in his first game as a starter. During his time with the Pistons, Dinwiddie also often played for their farm team in the NBA Gatorade League , Grand Rapids Drive .
On June 17, 2016, Dinwiddie joined the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Cameron Bairstow . The Bulls fired him on July 7, only to re-sign him on July 28. After playing for the Bulls in 5 preseason games, he was fired again on October 21. On October 30, 2016, Dinwiddie was signed by the Windy City Bulls , the Chicago Bulls' farm team in the D-League. At Windy City he averaged 19.4 points in 37.4 minutes per game.
On December 8, 2016, Dinwiddie signed again for the NBA, this time with the Brooklyn Nets . He played his first game two days later when the 130-101 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs stood for ten minutes. In the season 2017/18 Dinwiddie made the breakthrough in the NBA. He was the starting point guard of the Nets for most of the season . On December 12, 2017, he was able to set a new career high in the game against the Washington Wizards with 12 assists. On January 8, 2018, he was able to achieve a new career high of 31 points in the 113: 114 defeat against the Toronto Raptors . Dinwiddie also won the Skills Challenge at the 2018 NBA All Star Weekend .
