The Vorbourg-Soyhières barrier was a defensive position for the Swiss Army . It is located in the Vorbourg gorge near Soyhières in the municipality of Delémont and Courroux in the canton of Jura at 412  m above sea level. M. It was built during the Second World War under the Border Brigade 3 and is considered a military monument of national importance.

Border Guard

From 1936 to 1939 the fortifications on the Swiss border were guarded by volunteer companies for one year at a time. From March 1939 the border guards built anti- tank barriers in their sector and on August 29 of the same year they entered active service . The troops immediately started building the border fortifications .

The first line of defense of Border Brigade 3 was with two small artillery works on the massif of Les Rangiers , in the right part of the sector it included the Lucelle as a natural tank barrier. In the depth of the sector, the ravines crossed by roads have been closed off.

The strategic heights above the narrows of the Birs Gorge had already been fortified in the late Bronze Age ( Roc de Courroux ) and in the 12th ( Vorbourg / Béridier Castle ) and 13th centuries (Soyhières Castle).

The closure points of the Second World War in the region of Soyhières - Hasenburg comprised around thirty objects, which were placed in the bottlenecks in the south and north of Soyhières, in Combe - Le Bambois, in Réselle de Soyhières and in the bottleneck of Hasenburg. A part of the works was planned in 1936 by the office for fortifications and built by local companies. The first street barricade was erected in 1937 and in 1940 the first bunker was ready. The blocking point was later reinforced by Border Brigade 3 with its own buildings.

The anti-tank barrier in the Birs near Soyhières was provided with a system of tensioned cables between the two river banks, with which concrete anti-tank elements (tetrapods) could be anchored in the river bed. The frozen or dried-up river bed of the Birs would have been impassable for enemy tanks.

With Army 61 , the border brigades' defense system was supplemented by spherical bunkers, nuclear shelters and twin mine throwers.
