Sphere Project
The Sphere project is an initiative for a kind of quality management by non-governmental organizations . It was founded in July 1997 . Sphere project was initiated to coordinate quality improvement in international humanitarian aid globally and across organizations.
Projects
The Sphere project aims to resolve problems that have been experienced in humanitarian work. The following projects serve this purpose:
- Humanitarian charter and minimum standards in disaster relief
- Guide for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in disaster relief such as water supply, sanitation, nutrition, food aid, housing, camp management and medical services.
- Phase I - Already existing procedures and processes of the member organizations are to be collected and compared.
- Phase II - The second phase started in 1999, here the Sphere documents are to be checked and tested in order to be officially accepted and thus serve as a working basis.
