Mirror Mountains

The mirror mountains in the northern Harz foreland are a smaller area and up to 180.3  m above sea level. NN high ridge near Halberstadt in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt . They are the location of the Spiegelsberge landscape park .

The mirror mountains are located in the northern Harz foreland in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature park . They rise south of the core town of Halberstadt gently over the valley of the Goldbach, which flows past to the west and through the village to the north . To the east-southeast the landscape leads to the Klusberge ( 192.4  m ). The Halberstädter Klussiedlung is located south-southeast of the ridge .

history

The Spiegelberge were named after the poet Ernst Ludwig Christoph von Spiegel zu Desenberg (1711–1785), who had made a significant contribution to the reforestation. Under his leadership, the English-style Spiegelsberge Landscape Park was created in 1761 , which has been open to the public since 1771 and has been owned by the city since 1904. The park is now part of the Garden Dreams Saxony-Anhalt network .

The park contains the Halberstadt zoo , the Spiegelsberge hunting lodge , the mausoleum of Ernst Ludwig Christoph von Spiegel and the Belvedere and Bismarck tower Halberstadt . In the hunting lodge there is not only a restaurant but also the Gröninger barrel from the Gröninger castle . In addition, there is also the farmyard of Gut Spiegelsberge at the park .
