Games magazines in German-speaking countries

From the end of the 1970s, various game magazines appeared in Germany, Austria and Switzerland:

Situation today

The oldest games magazine in Germany and the games magazine with the highest circulation in Europe is spielbox , which developed from the magazine Das Spiel and has been published since 1981. The spielbox appears in Memmelsdorf near Bamberg. The magazine regularly comes with either a "game in a book" or additions to well-known game titles.

The second major German game magazine is Fairplay , which has been published in Bielefeld since 1987 .

In 2003 there was the first issue of the pdf magazine Spiel-E-Zine of the online magazine Reich der Spiele from Hanover. This was published in August 2015 after a long break with the third edition, which is aimed at beginners.

Finally, since 2005 there is also the free PDF magazine Occasional Players from Kiel.

The former SpielxPress magazine has been published as an online magazine since 2010 .
