The Spielverein 06 Kassel is a sports club with about 320 members from the Kassel district Rothenditmold .
history
The club goes back to the FC Adler founded in 1906 . This merged in 1911 with FC Prussia to form Spielverein 06 .
The club had its most successful period in the 1930s and 1940s. For the 1933/34 season one could qualify for the newly created Gauliga Hessen , the then highest German league. Here the game club was Gauligameister in 1937 and 1943 and then took part in the finals of the German soccer championship. This was the end of the line for SV 06 at an early stage: in 1937 the team won only one of six group games, and in 1943 , when the final round was played in the knockout system , SV 06 failed in the first round against defending champions FC Schalke 04 .
After the Second World War , the club could no longer build on past successes and disappeared from higher-class football. The club currently plays in the district league A in Hessen.
