The spindle and bearing Fraureuth GmbH is an internationally operating manufacturer of rolling bearings based in Saxony Fraureuth .
history
Rolling bearings and spindles for machine tools have been manufactured at the Fraureuth site for over 60 years . The Fraureuther porcelain factory was previously located on this site .
In 1942, due to the Second World War, the production of roller bearing cages made of brass , light metal and pressed wood was relocated to Fraureuth. The Thuringian Pressholz-Gesellschaft mbH was founded especially for this purpose in 1943, which in 1945 employed around 800 people and prisoners of war . At the end of the war, the plant was initially shut down. At the end of 1945, the order came from SMAD to restart operation and production began. a. for the German ball bearing factory (DKF). A year later the company was transferred to public ownership.
In 1949 the production of roller bearings and grinding spindles started. The company was renamed to VEB Fraureuther Wälzlagerfabrik in 1950 and assigned to VVB machine tools and tools . In 1952 the company already had 1,282 employees. In addition, the production range was expanded to include super-precision bearings, which were manufactured for Carl-Zeiss Jena . In 1954 the maximum number of 1,827 employees was reached. Initially, all products were branded “VWF” and later “Femina”. The Fraureuth rolling bearing factory embodied a high economic and technical level for the rolling bearing industry in the GDR, so that the leading function for all rolling bearing operations in the GDR was taken over.
In the 1960s they exported to 17 countries and large-scale production (up to 75,000 pieces per type) began. In the following years, the first maintenance-free rolling bearing in the GDR was manufactured and the company established itself as a supplier for machine tool construction, the automotive industry, the optical industry and agricultural machinery. Since January 1, 1970, VEB Wälzlagerwerk Fraureuth has belonged to the reorganized Combine Rolling Bearings and Standard Parts (headquarters in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) and has been producing under the trademark "DKFDDR" since then.
After reunification , the GDR's rolling bearing industry was renamed DKFL GmbH, based in Leipzig . From 1991 to 1993 the plant belonged to FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schäfer KGaA as a subsidiary . After the insolvency proceedings of DKFL GmbH in 1993, Spindel- undlagerstechnik Fraureuth GmbH was re-established at the Fraureuth location. The initiative for this came from the senior employees of the old rolling bearing plant. The ball and roller bearing factory Leipzig GmbH was established in Leipzig .
The products go to companies in Germany (approx. 85% of sales) and to around 40 countries under the “SLF” trademark .
Products
The company produces ball bearings in the outer diameter range from 40 mm to 1,600 mm. Complete tool spindle units for milling , drilling , turning and grinding machines are also offered. These gear or motor spindles are procured from numerous machine tool manufacturers as finished subassemblies.
Additional information
After being re-established in 1993 with only 29 employees, the company was able to re-establish itself on the market and sell its products worldwide. Leading machine tool manufacturers install SLF spindles.
