The Sponholz Peak is a 1730 m high mountain in the Ellsworth Mountains of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Heritage Range, it rises 4 km south of Moulder Peak in the Liberty Hills on the west side of the Horseshoe Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Martin P. Sponholz, a meteorologist from the United States Antarctic Program , who worked on the US plateau station during the Antarctic winter of 1966 .
