The district sports facility south is a large-scale sports facility in the Augsburg district of Hochfeld . The approximately 33 hectare site is one of the largest district sports facilities in southern Germany and was inaugurated by the city of Augsburg in 1965. The main users include TSV Schwaben Augsburg , TG Viktoria Augsburg and the Augsburg section of the DAV . In addition to these clubs, the area is also used by amateur athletes and school classes.

Sports facilities

There are numerous playing fields for various sports on the grounds of the sports facility south. These include soccer , basketball , fistball , field hockey and tennis . The German Alpine Association also operates a climbing center . The most important part of the sports facility is the Ernst Lehner Stadium on the northern edge . The stadium, which opened in 1996, has space for around 5,000 spectators, around 600 of which are covered seats.

The south sports facility also has a 1,730 meter long circuit (the so-called Max Gutmann running path ), which is equipped with distance boards and floodlights. Further running routes start at the sports facility south and lead to the adjacent seven-table facilities .

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the south sports facility includes a large parking lot, which is also used as a P + R parking lot for the tram, and a sports field building on Ilsungstrasse. In the building there are changing rooms, showers and toilets. The forest museum Waldpavillon is located directly next to the parking lot on Ilsungstraße .
