Sports Merit Medal (Luxembourg)

The Sports Merit Medal was donated on October 8, 1945 by Grand Duchess Charlotte of Luxembourg and is awarded for outstanding and lasting services to sport, physical education and scouting. Luxembourg athletes can only be awarded if they have achieved exceptional sporting achievements on an international level.

A lending to foreigners is permitted, as is a lending posthumously.

The round medal , which is awarded in three stages ( gold - gold - plated , silver and bronze ), shows two athletes, a man on the left, a woman slightly offset, with their heads turned. The man is holding a torch in his left hand, and the woman is holding a branch of laurel in her right hand. All around the inscription LUXEMBOURG - MEDAL DU MERITE SPORTIF .

On the back of the five are Olympic rings and including the date 8. 10. 45 to see.

The award is worn on a blue, yellow, black, green and red ribbon (Olympic colors) on the left side of the chest. A small star is attached to the II level (silver) and a rosette to the I level (gold) to distinguish it.

Others

After the owner's death, the award remains with the heirs. However, if a higher level is awarded, the previously awarded level must be returned.
