District Calenberg-Hoya

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sprengel Calenberg-Hoya was a historical administrative district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover , which existed from 1957 to 2007. Most recently it included the church districts of Grafschaft Schaumburg , Hameln-Pyrmont , Hoya , Nienburg , Springe , Stolzenau- Loccum and Syke .

history

As a result of the abolition of the four previous general superintendentages and the appointment of "provosts" by the German Christians (1934), regional bishop August Marahrens appointed seven episcopal vicars who were commissioned to support the pastors' community, to attend parish conventions and to visit parishes . When the power struggle between the German Christians and the regional bishop was decided in favor of the latter, the office of regional superintendent was created in place of the episcopal vicars on June 15, 1936, who took over the spiritual supervision within a district.

The district boundaries were initially based on the boundaries of the historical landscapes of the Kingdom of Hanover. In 1957 the Sprengel was reformed; the previous district of Verden-Hoya was dissolved and its church districts were assigned to other state superintendent offices. The church districts of Hoya, Nienburg, Stolzenau and Syke were transferred to the previous district of Calenberg . Its four Hanoverian church districts (Hanover I-III and Hanover-Linden) were separated and merged to form the district of Hanover , the Sulingen church district went to Osnabrück and the previous Calenberg church districts Bodenwerder and Coppenbrügge were added to the district of Hildesheim . The newly created district was now called Calenberg-Hoya, and Johannes Schulze became the first state superintendent on April 1, 1957 .

In 1969 the church districts Neustadt am Rübenberge, Pattensen, Ronnenberg and Wunstorf were separated from the district and incorporated into the district of Hanover .

The official seat of the state superintendent was initially Hanover. In 1969 he was relocated to Celle, 1977 to Nienburg.

In 2001, a part of the parish of Springe was added to the parish of Laatzen-Pattensen in the district of Hanover, which was subsequently renamed the parish of Laatzen-Springe. Another part was added to the Ronnenberg parish. The church district office in Springe was gradually merged with the office in Ronnenberg , and the superintendent there was dissolved.

In 2007 the district was dissolved.
